Day 1 Arrive Iquitos/ Amazon River (Dry season Jun - Nov)
Be welcomed onto our luxury vessel and get a first feel of the Amazonian environment that will envelope you over the next week.
Day 2 Amazon/ Tahuayo Rivers and Charo Lake
Watch the sun rise over the Amazon Basin and explore this region by comfortable skiff. Fish for piranhas while hearing the history of the area from naturalist trained guides. End your day admiring majestic iguanas and graceful dolphins, the colours of which you will see nowhere else in the world.
Day 3 Maranon River/ Pacaya-Samiria Reserve
Either travel by skiff to the remote Chingana, a small creek where giant river otter usually nest, or learn about sustainable resource management projects in Amazonia, followed by an outing on which we will spot both monkeys and dolphins.
Day 4 Amazon River/ Perto Miguel Village
Witness one of the great spectacles of the Southern Hemisphere; the sun rising over the birthplace of the Amazon River. Meet local villages of Puerto Miguel, one of the most remote locations in the world. Finish your day as one of the few who have seen the world's largest aquatic plant, the giant Victoria Regias water lilies, bloom at night.
Day 5 Ucayali River/ Yanallpa Area
Search on foot for the bizarre-looking birds called hoatzins whilst learning from our guides important orientation techniques used in the deep jungle. Cruise the majestic Ucayali River and meet native balseros, or fishermen, before taking a night trip out to see the caiman, a member of the alligator family.
Day 6 Puinahua River/ Hatum Posa Lake and Pacaya River
Learn about the wealth of fruit trees and medicinal plants hidden in the jungle, before taking a late afternoon cruise down Pacaya River. Here we will see an abundance of monkeys and using our special spotlights will perhaps glimpse a huge caiman.
Day 7 Puinahua River/ Pacaya Rivers and Carocurahuayte Lake
Start your day spotting parrots, macaws, toucans and monkeys before watching the dolphins feed in special spots around Yanayacu Lake. Later, armed with poles and bait, attempt to fish for some of more than 3,000 species of tropical fish that live in the Amazon Basin.
Day 8 Depart Iquitos
Have a last skiff trip along the majestic Amazon, before disembarking our vessel just after lunch. If time allows, enjoy a look around the bustling but remote town of Iquitos and discover what was once a rich centre of the rubber industry.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
