Operating in a truly remote and unique part of Cape York Peninsula, we invite you to join us on the magnificent waterways of Aurukun and with the Wik and Wik Way people. Aurukun is located on the western coast of Cape York at the junction of three pristine rivers - the Archer, the Watson and the Ward. Together with other river systems lying further south (the Kirk and the Love Rivers), this massive network of rivers forms the Aurukun Wetlands, one of Australia’s largest wetland areas covering 1.1 million hectares (2 718 159 acres) and containing some of the best quality coastal wetland habitats in Northern Australia. As well as being home to the Wik and Wik Way traditional owners who provide insight into their culture and folklore, this unique wetland ecosystem supports a multitude of migrating bird species, crocodiles and fish species.

Cape York Wetland Experience
Welcome to a unique wetland adventure cruise in the remote northern tip of Australia.
Day by day activities differ on each trip depending on seasonality, water levels, weather and local conditions but a typical Cape York Wetland Experience will include; Aboriginal interpretation of ancient stories and art, carving, weaving and spear throwing demonstrations; bush tucker collection and tasting; bird and wildlife viewing; fishing and croc spotting. Trips will typically involve a range of local Aboriginal guides each with connection to particular land or river areas and with their own special knowledge, expertise and information.
The Wetlands A Unique Ecosystem
The Aurukun Wetlands habitat is an area of outstanding beauty that supports abundant flora and fauna. Our Cape York Wetlands Experience provides a unique way to explore this untouched natural world, with interpretation and insight from the local Wik and Wik Way people.
Our Vessel
Our vessel is custom-built and designed specifically for the waterways around Aurukun. It is spacious, modern and comfortable with air conditioned accommodation for up to 8 guests. Towed aluminium 'tinnies' provide access to smaller waterways and for shore excursions.
Our Location
Located on the west coast of Australia on the Cape York Peninsula, the location of our Wetland Experience is about as remote as it gets. Inhabited by traditional owners and profuse bird, reptile, fish and wildlife, few travellers venture to the Aurukun communities and wetlands.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
