Day 1 - Arrival Day
You can arrive for the retreat anytime after 2pm. As everyone arrives at different times on the first day use this time to become familiar with the surroundings and to wind down for the welcome and information.
Relax, take a swim or surf in the ocean, a walk along the beach or a swing in the hammocks. If you wish to have a massage from any of our fabulous masseurs, please let us know so we can arrange this. Try not to eat anything after about 2.30pm so your food is digested prior to the first yoga session at 4.30pm (yoga pavilion). Our welcome dinner begins at 6.00pm and afterwards we have a guided relaxation if you choose to participate.
Day 2 - 6 - Surfing, Yoga and Meditation
Perhaps start the day with a refreshing dip in the ocean right outside your door or just get ready for your 8:00am yoga and pranayama (meditation) class. The morning sessions includes a harmonious fusion of Hatha and Ashtanga yoga weaved together with flowing Vinyasa that is suitable for a complete beginner or an advanced Yogi. For beginners, we'll take it slowly and teach a strong foundation on which to build a lasting yoga practise. Our morning yoga will either take place on the beach to the sounds of the birds and the rhythm of the ocean or listening to soothing music in our beautiful new yoga pavilion.
You have three surf lessons included in your trip and, guided by current Australian Surf Champion Sunny Richards-Glasser, you are guaranteed to have an amazing time and learn invaluable new skills. Yoga and surfing are naturally connected. Like yoga, surfing is a life-changing experience, and anyone can learn to surf! If you are already an experienced surfer, Sunny has had plenty of experience competing, so she can guide those keen on competition training.
Whatever your level, Sunny's attention to individual needs and detail of instruction will leave you feeling inspired, nurtured and empowered and the techniques the retreat gives you will help you lead a healthier life once you return home.
On the days you don't have your surf lessons you can read a book in your hammock, swim in the warm ocean waters or indulge in a massage before lunch is served at 1:30pm.
After lunch, you may choose to head off to your next adventure with one of the optional activities such as scuba diving, kayaking, skydiving, mountain biking or just chilling out on the 40-plus kilometres of beautiful local beaches or head into explore all that beautiful Byron has to offer.
The world-famous Byron Bay is a very popular and safe tourist destination, beloved by Australians and international travellers alike. It's renowned for its surfing beaches, beautiful scenery and great nightlife. There's always plenty to do - experience the local Sunday markets, filled with colourful stalls that sell everything from gifts and clothing to food and plants, sample the many cafés and restaurants, catering to all tastes and budgets and marvel at the array of alternative therapies on offer in sacred Byron Bay.
In the afternoon, your yoga sessions will be quieter, restoring your centre after an active day. Sessions will emphasise restorative yoga, including deep stretching and relaxation. Sessions will also include pranayama, breathing techniques, meditation, Yoga Nidra - guided relaxation, chanting, and therapeutic healing. It's a great way to deepen your personal practise, calm the mind and cleanse the body of toxins.
We group together for a delicious vegetarian feast each evening which is the perfect time to share stories and thoughts with your new friends, learn about the ancient tradition of yoga through conversation with our expert instructor, listen to music and notice yourself slowly unwinding from the stresses and distractions of everyday life.
Day 7 - Departure Day
After a final morning yoga session we must say our goodbyes to the retreat that has become our home over the last week and our new friends. We have plenty to reflect on as we leave the retreat and walk back into our normal lives, fully restored and feeling balanced and at peace.

On 07 June the Australian Government issued an updated travel warning for East Timor strongly advising against travel to East Timor because of the extremely dangerous security situation. Australians in the country are advised to leave. The Travel Warning remains at Category 5 - Do Not Travel.
On Tuesday 07 June we have taken the decision to cancel the remainder of our East Timor trips scheduled to depart in 2006. All travellers will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another trip or obtain a full refund (land content only). We very much regret having to take this action and our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of East Timor during this troubled time.
We are confident of being able to resume our normal schedule of trips to East Timor in 2007 and hope that those travellers who have had to cancel their plans this year will travel with us to East Timor in 2007.
